Youth Programs
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church offers a variety of exciting and engaging programs for youth of all ages. We invite you to be a part of them.

Intergenerational and Seasonal Programs

  • Mid-week dinners, activities and worship in the weeks prior to Easter
  • Cookie and coffee fellowship on Sunday mornings following worship
  • Summer Vacation Bible School
  • Retreats and Service Projects

Primary Grades Programs

  • Dedication of three-year olds in the fall as they begin Sunday School. Sunday School is offered at both 8:30 and 9:45 a.m. from September through May.
  • 1st grade Prayer Partners. 1st grade children are teamed with a High School student and agree to pray for each other every day.
  • Distribution of Bibles to 2nd graders. A workshop is held to introduce the children to the Bible. Parents are encouraged to read Bible stories to their children.
  • A First Communion workshop introduces 3rd graders and their families to God’s gift of Holy Communion. Following the workshop a worship service is held where the children receive Holy Communion for the first time.
  • A “Family Building” overnight retreat with parents is held for 4th graders. In this retreat a connection is made between the children, their parents and the community of faith.

5th and 6th Grade Programs

  • Wednesday evening “Faith Fest” programs feature Bible study, music, crafts and skits.
  • An annual community building retreat is held.

Jr. High Programs
Confirmation and more!

  • Wednesday evening Confirmation.
  • Participation in “Youth Quake” with 1000 other youth from Chicagoland.
  • Annual retreat on current topics of personal interest to youth.
  • Service projects for the larger community. 

High School Programs
Walking on the Journey of faith is exciting! We work hard to help your child work through the stepping stones

  • 9th grade “Faith Explorers” confirmation program integrates theology and daily life. Sessions are held monthly.
  • Participation in the triennial national Lutheran youth gathering.
  • Annual servant events.
  • Multiple retreat opportunities
  • Weekly Sunday School.
  • Sunday evening group gatherings.
  • Plan, lead and participate in worship, including the Crossroad services.

Families Growing Together

  • A Preschool for children ages 3 through kindergarten, accredited by the NAEYC.
  • Periodic retreats to help persons grow in their personal faith.
  • Church wide fellowship events, picnics and dinners.
  • Stephen Ministry, a caring ministry, helps persons cope with the challenges of life.
  • Sunday School - Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.
  • Faith Fest for 5th and 6th graders: Held on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 8:00 p.m.
  • Confirmation Classes: Held on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 to 8:00 p.m.
  • Faith Explorers for 9th graders: Held once a month, usually on the first Sunday.
