trips or projects are required, plus the PADS lock-in on January 5th
& 6th.
Please
limit the church visits to no more than 3. We ask students to choose 7 events
in case an illness or scheduling conflict causes you to miss an activity during
the year.
Each
student must participate in 6 activities, plus PADS and the first Sunday
night of the month Faith Explorers¹ meetings to fulfill the expectations for
the confirmation program.

9TH GRADE COORDINATOR
Gather and
distribute permission slips and evaluations to adult captains.
Keep tally
of students¹ progress toward completion of requirements.
ALSO NEEDED: Adult captains for
each event
Carry set of permission slips for each student participating.
Call the trip location two weeks before the event to confirm details.
Ten days before event, call students who are signed up for the
event to remind them of the details.
Make sure you have enough drivers for the amount of students signed up.
Accompany the students on the trip.
Pass out and collect evaluations at the end of the trip. Return evaluations to
coordinator.
ALSO NEEDED: Adult chaperones for each 1st Sunday Night of the
Month Meeting

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS
Most of these choices do not have a cost associated with them, although a
few do. We have tried to include possibilities for credit that the
young people would already be participating in.

SENIOR
CHOIR member
For students in grades 7-12. Practices Thursday, 7:30
–9:00 p.m. Sing in worship. Contact Scott Uddenberg for more information,
847-885-7010.
2.
CROP
WALK for hunger
Registration forms will be in the lobby at the Information
Desk in late September and early October. Students will have to obtain
pledges, walk, and then turn in money collected.
3.
HOLY
FAMILY LUTHERAN CHURCH
Go to a Sunday
morning service with a diverse congregation in the city
4.
ALL
SAINTS' EVE PARTY AND TRUNK OR TREAT for children
Come early to the party to help set-up and run the events. Dress up in a costume. Clean up afterward. Help with trunk or treat in the parking lot.
5.
THANKSGIVING
FOOD BASKET PREPARATION for Elijah¹s Pantry
On a Sunday 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, help Board of Serving Ministry
collect, separate, and load food donations. Volunteers may also help deliver
the
food.

OF PEACE CHRISTMAS PROGRAM AND DINNER
Event.

MATTHEW'S CATHOLIC CHURCH
Go to a Sunday morning mass. Observe similarities and
differences.

ALDEN
POPLAR CREEK NURSING HOME
Visit the nursing home, make valentines and play Valentine
Bingo with the residents.

BAPTIST CHURCH
Go to a Sunday morning
service. Observe similarities and differences.
10. LENTEN EVENTS HELPER
Attend 2 Wednesday evening Lenten events and assist
with
crafts, music, or kitchen, etc.
11. BETH TIKVAH JEWISH TEMPLE
Go to a Friday night service. Observe similarities and differences.
12. DELIVER DONATED FOOD TO THE SCHAUMBURG TOWNSHIP FOOD
PANTRY
After food has been donated by congregation members on the second Sunday of the month, you and your parents would load the food into your car that day or the following day and deliver the food to the food pantry on Illinois Boulevard. The pantry is only open until 4:30 p.m.
13. CONSTRUCTION ZONE RETREAT
The Youth Quake for high school. Attend with Senior
High LYO
this weekend retreat (Friday night through Sunday noon) at the
Pheasant Run Resort. There will be many other youth from the area
and surrounding states attending. The cost of this retreat
will be approximately $125 and registration will take place in October.
14. FRIENDSHIP VILLAGE VISIT
Visit the residence for senior
citizens and participate in some planned activities.
15. W.I.N.G.S. WORKDAY for Women in Need
Growing Stronger
Visit one of the
residential sites of this service for suburban
women and children who are temporarily homeless possibly due to domestic abuse.
You will be doing some outdoor yard or maintenance chores or some
interior cleaning or upkeep.
16. ALTAR GUILD
Serve on Altar Guild for the year.
17. ASSISTING MINISTER
Serve as an assisting minister in worship services several
times throughout the year.
18. DESIGN A PROJECT
Plan a project of your own and submit it to Karen Wagner for
approval.

CONFIRMATION PROGRAM
EXPECTATIONS FOR CONFIRMATION
FOR 9TH GRADERS
2006 – 2007
Prince of Peace has the following expectations for the Confirmation program:
That each
confirmand
1.
Submit
a total of 30 sermon notes (15 in 7th grade and 15 in 8th
grade).
2.
Participate
in at least 14 individual service activities over the 2 years of 7th
grade and 8th grade, 7 in each year. (Wednesday night group projects
are not part of this total.)
3.
Attend
Sunday school and Wednesday night classes regularly in 7th and 8th
grades.
4.
Attend
1 retreat during each year of 7th and 8th grade to be
divided as 1 Junior High Retreat at Prince of Peace and 1 Youth Quake retreat
over the two years.
5.
Attend
Sunday school (9:45) and worship regularly in 9th grade.
6.
Participate
in 7 out of 17 offered 9th grade trips or service projects.
7.
Attend
the Sunday evening 9th grade Faith Explorers meetings the first
Sunday evening of each month.
8.
Attend
the Affirmation of Baptism retreat in the spring of 9th grade.
9.
Write
a one page Statement of Faith or letter to God talking about your beliefs, and
schedule a one hour discussion time with the Director of Youth and Family
Ministries.
10. Participate in the Affirmation of
Baptism Service on a Sunday in May.
