Director – Mrs. Lisa Issacs

I earned my undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Health and my masters degree in Health Sciences.  I have taught preschool at Prince of Peace for the past nine years and have been an assistant director for the past seven years.  I am completing my certificate in Early Childhood Administration.  I have worked in many volunteer positions with children over the past twenty years.  I believe that every child is a unique individual and that as teachers we need to help them develop in their own unique way.  I believe that children learn best from exploring the environment around them and through their own natural curiosity as well as modeling the adults in their lives.  I believe in providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn and grow through the patient and loving hands of the teachers who guide and teach them.

Assistant Director and Teacher – Mrs. Mary Masterson

I earned a BA degree from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minnesota. I also have thirty hours of Early Childhood Education from Harper College. I have been a member of the teaching staff at Prince of Peace since 1995.  During my tenure, I have taught all levels of preschool and have served as Assistant Director since 2001.  I believe in creating a safe classroom where each child feels special and will have the opportunity to grow cognitively, socially and physically. Through a partnership with parents, I hope to instill in each child a genuine curiosity and love of learning.

Kindergarten Teacher – Mrs. Sue Martin

I have a Bacherlors Degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University.  I have been teaching kindergarten at Prince of Peace for the past 6 years and taught preschool at Prince of Peace for 6 years prior.  All three of my adult children are alumni of Prince of Peace.

Teacher – Mrs. Annie Yauch

I have been involved at Prince of Peace for over 20 years.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development from Northern Illinois University.  In the past, I have had a daycare home, taught all ages, and directed the preschool program.  My children attended preschool here and now my grandson is a student.  I am very happy to be teaching again at Prince of Peace.  I am also a Rainbows and Sunbeams facilitator for young children dealing with loss in their lives.

Teacher – Mrs. Val Robinson

I have an education degree from Illinois State University.  I have been teaching early childhood education in various capacities since 1978.  I have taught art activities, pre-3 classes, 3 year preschool and 4 year old day care.  I am devoted to giving our students a great foundation for learning.  Our days are filled with open play, songs, art, snack, large motor activities, and language skills.

Teacher –  Mrs. Nancy Hammond

I earned my degree in education from Northern Illinois University.  After graduating, I taught in District 54 for 6 years.  Prior to teaching I worked with children as a substitute teacher, assistant teacher, day camp director, and daycare provider.  My three daughters spent their early years being a part of the wonderful community at Prince of Peace.  I believe in providing a safe environment for children to build a strong foundation and love for learning.

Teacher – Mrs. Michele Wagener

I was born and raised in Schaumburg and currently reside in Elk Grove Village. I am happily married and we have 3 children all in elementary school who graduated from Prince of Peace.  I have a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education as well as a teaching certificate. I have 12 years in early childhood.  I worked in a childcare setting with toddlers for 8 years, and then opened an in-home childcare in my home.  I later opened a preschool at Lifetime Fitness in Schaumburg. I have very passionate about educating children.  I believe you can turn any moment into a ‘teachable moment’.  I am very patient and love to interact with the preschoolers.  Their minds are little sponges and our learning through play philosophy allows children to have fun while absorbing so much knowledge.

Teacher – Mrs. Valerie Mikes

I earned my Early Childhood Education teaching certificate from Harper College.  I also have a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master of Business Administration from Roosevelt University.  I started out as a substitute teacher here at Prince of Peace, and I am proud to be a member of the teaching staff.  We are a great team with incredible passion for each child.  I strongly believe that Prince of Peace is a wonderful place for your child to begin their education both academically and emotionally. All three of my children attended Prince of Peace, and we have many fond memories of this wonderful program.  I am truly blessed to be a part of this great community.

Teacher – Mrs. Megan Gladstone

I graduated from Millikin University with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education.  In the year following graduation I had the privilege of teaching 2nd grade.  I spent the following 10 years in District 96 teaching 3rd and 4th grade.  During this time I also earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have two sons who have both attended Prince of Peace.  I am honored to have the opportunity to teach in such a warm and collaborative school environment.  I love teaching, and I want to teach children to love learning!

Teacher – Ms. Abrams

After having former careers as a business owner and flight attendant, I received my Applied Science in Early Childhood Education degree.  My passion in this third career is a joyous one, working with preschool aged children here at Prince of Peace.  I enjoy teaching and believe that all children should be given the opportunity to perform at their best.  Children here at Prince of Peace will feel safe, happy, and confident in their learning environment.  I hope to continue working in a capacity where not only I am fulfilled but also the children will get a solid foundation to become life long learners.

Teacher – Mrs. Ichida

I am fortunate to be both a teacher here at the preschool and a member of Prince of Peace.  I received my undergraduate degrees from Illinois State University and my masters from University of Illinois and DePaul University.  After retiring from teaching, I missed time with the children.  I’m blessed to spend time with little ones where I can help them learn to play with friends and chat with God while they teach me so much more.

Administrative Assistant – Mrs. Karen Weber

I graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and a Master of Social Work from Loyola University.  After serving many years on the Board of Preschool and Kindergarten here at Prince of Peace I am happy to a part of the staff.  Both of my daughters are Prince of Peace alumni and my family and I are members of the church.  If you stop by the Welcome Center, please say hello.
