Announcing an Invitation to Apply for Director of Preschool and Kindergarten at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (Serving children ages 3 to 5 years.)

Affiliation

Prince of Peace Preschool and Kindergarten is a ministry of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The program is governed by an independent body of church members, the Board of Preschool. The teaching of denominational doctrine is not part of the instructional program. Nonetheless the program’s philosophy and curriculum are designed to adhere to Christian teachings.

The program strives to follow the mission statement of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, which is as follows: “Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is a community of God’s people, called by the Holy Spirit to lead Christ-centered lives through worship, spiritual growth and service.”

 

Guiding Principles

  • Each child is a unique and special creation of God with his or her own gifts and abilities.
  • Children learn through direct involvement and experiences with their environment.
  • Children learn by seeing, hearing and modeling appropriate behaviors and language.
  • Children’s relationships with each other and their families are highly significant to them at this time in their lives. Therefore, the program encourages the involvement of parents and family members.
  • Building the foundations for important learning, the program values each child’s potential and creates an environment that allows the child to develop this potential.
  • The program fosters an enthusiasm for learning, a sense of caring, an understanding of Christian values and a positive self-image.

Teaching Staff, Accreditation and Licensing

Teachers of Prince of Peace Preschool and Kindergarten have extensive experience in the field of Education for young children. Staff members are carefully selected, undergo continual training and are supervised in compliance with licensing standards. The Prince of Peace Preschool and Kindergarten is accredited by the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association (ELEA), and is licensed to operate by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) of the State of Illinois.

 

Personal and Professional Qualities

The candidate must have professional qualities and personal and core values of the highest order. The Director of the Preschool and Kindergarten is expected to be compassionate, collaborative, and highly visible. Primary credentials for the Director include:

  • Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or Equivalency
  • Minimum of Two Years of Experience Teaching Early Childhood
  • Supervisory Experience Preferred
  • Active Member of a Christian Church
  • Willing to Attend Special Services and Events
