FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR today are to celebrate the 28th Wedding Anniversary of Mark & Linda Billhymer, the 6th Birthday of Vivienne Madsen and the 50th Birthday of Linda Machut. Keep Mark, Linda, Vivienne and Linda in your prayers as they celebrate their special days!

 

BAPTISMAL RETREAT If you are planning to have your child baptized at Prince of Peace, you are required to attend a Baptismal Retreat. The next scheduled retreats are Sunday, August 15th and Sunday, November 7th at 12:30 p.m. Please call the church office at 847-885-7010 to register.

 

AN ADULT STAFFED NURSERY IS AVAILABLE IN THE SUMMER FOR OUR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN in the lower level, Room 123. For the safety of our youngest children, elementary age children are encouraged to worship with everyone in the Worship Center.

 

CHILDREN’S SERMONS are a part of our worship service during all of the summer services. Pouches were passed out several weeks ago, and tokens to place in them will be passed out during each of the children’s sermons. Extra pouches are available from the pastor or at the ushers’ cabinet.

 

SUNDAY COOKOUT! Next Sunday, July 25 Crossroads will hold the 11:15 am service outside (weather permitting). The service will be followed by a potluck/cookout/picnic to which everyone is invited. Please look for sign up sheets on the desk at both entrances of the church. BRING FRIENDS! ALL ARE WELCOME!

 

 

 

HABITAT HOUSE UPDATE: Thank you to all who have volunteered to help build the house in Carpentersville. We can still use a few more people on Saturday, July 24 from 8:30 to 4:00. Everyone over age 18 is invited; youth ages 16-18 may participate if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. No skills are needed—experienced crew leaders will train us for the tasks needed to be done that day. Sign-up sheets are on the welcome desk and the tables outside the Christian Life Center. There is a second sign-up sheet for people who can't help on July 24, but would be available on a different Saturday. Questions? Contact Chris Chason at 847-882-0982.

 

MAIL FOR MISSION TRIP PARTICIPANTS: We have 36 people heading to Ocean Springs, Mississippi to continue efforts to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina from July 31-August 8th. We would love to hear from you while we’re on our trip! Please drop off letters or cards for the participants in the toolboxes in the lobbies. You can drop them off until Tuesday, July 27th. They will be distributed throughout the week. Lists of participants can be found in the toolboxes. Thank you for your support!

 

MISSION TRIP PARTICIPANTS Please pick up your LDR T shirt in the Lobby today from Mark Gamb or Barb Harrow. You are asked to wear them next week for the commissioning at the 9:45 a.m. service on Sunday, July 25.Remember the next meeting is on Tuesday, July 27 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. This is an extremely important meeting to attend!

 

MISSION TRIP CELEBRATIONS The congregation is invited to come on Saturday morning, July 31st at 7:45 a.m. as we send off the mission trip participants to Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Everyone is also invited to a Welcome Home Dinner on Sunday, August 8 at 5:00 p.m. Meat and beverages will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share.

 

REGISTRATION PACKETS FOR 2010/2011 SUNDAY SCHOOL, CONFIRMATION AND FAITH FEST HAVE BEEN MAILED. Extra packets are available at the Information Desks at the entrances. Please share one with a family you would like to invite to Prince of Peace.

 

 

BACKPACK AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES UPDATE. Thank you to all who donated backpacks and school supplies. As of July 11, we had 25 backpacks! The deadline has been extended to Sunday, July 25 so that we can meet our goal of 80 backpacks, in addition to the supplies from the list below. LSSI  collection boxes are in the Fellowship Hall. CALLING ALL POP GOLFERS! We’re well into the summer golf season and it’s time for the 10th Annual Prince of Peace golf outing. The outing is set for Saturday August 28. Once again, we’ll tee it up with our friends from Christus Victor Lutheran Church at Bloomingdale Golf Club. Cost for the event is $75 and includes golf and dinner. This is a wonderful opportunity to invite a friend from outside the church to join us in fellowship. Sign-up sheets are available on the table in the Narthex and in the front hall. (And by judge we mean eat).

All proceeds go to further Prince of Peace’s ministry.
