WE EXTEND OUR SYMPATHY to Joy Gustafson on the death of her mother. Our sympathy also goes to the family of Nancy Kruger who died this past week. Please keep these families in your prayers as they celebrate the lives of their mothers.

 

BAPTISMAL RETREAT If you are planning to have your child baptized at Prince of Peace, you are required to attend a Baptismal Retreat. The next scheduled retreats are Sunday, August 15th and Sunday, November 7th at 12:30 p.m. Please call the church office at 847-885-7010 to register.

 

AN ADULT STAFFED NURSERY IS AVAILABLE IN THE SUMMER FOR OUR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN in the lower level, Room 123. For the safety of our youngest children, elementary age children are encouraged to worship with everyone in the Worship Center.

 

CHILDREN’S SERMONS are a part of our worship service during all of the summer services. Pouches were passed out several weeks ago, and tokens to place in them will be passed out during each of the children’s sermons. Extra pouches are available from the pastor or at the ushers’ cabinet.

 

SUNDAY COOKOUT! On Sunday, July 25 Crossroads will hold the 11:15 am service outside (weather permitting). The service will be followed by a potluck/cookout/picnic to which everyone is invited. Please look for sign up sheets on the desk at both entrances of the church. BRING FRIENDS! ALL ARE WELCOME!

 

HABITAT HOUSE UPDATE: Thank you to all who have volunteered to help build the house in Carpentersville. We can still use a few more people on Saturday, July 24 from 8:30 to 4:00. Everyone over age 18 is invited; youth ages 16-18 may participate if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. No skills are needed--experienced crew leaders will train us for the tasks needed to be done that day. Sign-up sheets are on the welcome desk and the tables outside the Christian Life Center. There is a second sign-up sheet for people who can't help on July 24, but would be available on a different Saturday. Questions? Contact Chris Chason at 847-882-0982

 

MAIL FOR MISSION TRIP PARTICIPANTS: We have 37 people heading to Ocean Springs, Mississippi to continue efforts to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina from July 31-August 8th. We would love to hear from you while we’re on our trip! Please drop off letters or cards for the participants in the toolboxes in the lobbies. You can drop them off until Tuesday, July 27th. They will be distributed throughout the week. Lists of participants can be found in the toolboxes. Thank you for your support!

 

BACKPACK AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES UPDATE: Thank you to all who donated backpacks and school supplies. As of July 7, we had 15 backpacks! The deadline has been extended to Sunday July 25 so that we can meet our goal of 80 backpacks, in addition to the supplies from the list below. LSSI  collection boxes are in the Fellowship Hall. LYO BOWLING NIGHT The Senior High LYO will be going bowling on Friday, July 16 at Poplar Creek Bowl. (2354 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates). Meet at the bowling alley at 6:30 and be picked up at 8:30. Cost is $3.00 for shoe rental and $1 per game bowled. We plan on bowling 2-3 games. Bring friends and permission slips!!! Permission slips are available on the youth bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. Questions?

FAMILY FAITH DAY!

The Schaumburg Flyers Professional Baseball Team is inviting all communities of faith to attend “K-LOVE Family Faith Day”, Sunday, July 18th, at Alexian Field, 1:20 p.m. If you’re interested in becoming part of a (large!) group from Prince of Peace, please look for the sign up sheets at both entrances of the church. CALLING ALL GOLFERS! It’s time to mark your calendars for the

     10th Annual Prince of Peace golf outing. We’ve set the outing for Saturday, August 28. Once again, we’ll tee it up with our friends from Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Elk Grove.
