Lenten Events:  “Faith Walk”

Beginning Wednesday, February 24 and continuing for the next 4 Wednesdays, Lenten Events will be held beginning at 6:00 p.m. As in years past, we will begin each evening with a meal at 6:00 p.m. along with the popular dessert competitions. You may sign up to bring one of the suggested food items for each night on the posters in the Fellowship Hall.

At 6:45 p.m., all will gather for worship, using the Holden Evening Prayer service. At 7:15 p.m. there will be a choice of activities:

·        Confirmation for 7th & 8th grade youth;

·        Cross-generational family activities for children and youth based on the Lenten theme;

·        Adult group discussion on the “Faith Walk” theme, introduced each week by a clip from a well-known film.

Donations at mealtime will help cover additional meal costs and craft suppliles. Profits from the dessert competitions will benefit various charities. The evening will end at 8:00 p.m. Nursery care will be available for children ages 3 and under.

This year’s Lenten theme, “Faith Walk,” will provide an opportunity for us to practice talking about faith in an informal, no-pressure setting. In our culture, many have lost touch with – or perhaps were never introduced to – an experience of faith. In various traditions (including Lutheran!), faith is often seen as something that is private, and therefore we have trouble talking about it. We develop a case of what one writer call “Lutheran laryngitis.”

In this Lenten series, we will reflect on ways to share our faith for the benefit of others around us.

Everyone of all ages is invited to these evenings of worship, food and fellowship. The detailed schedule is on an insert in this bulletin.
