A SPECIAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING to be held on Sunday, August 15 immediately following the 9:45 a.m. worship service. Authorization is needed for the PPC to replace the north entrance doors. Mission Minute:Stewardship is about more than money, but certainly money is an important factor. The way we use our money and other possessions are an important part of our discipleship as followers of Jesus. All that we are and all that we have, come from God as a blessing. It is our responsibility to take care of and use wisely these blessings. They include time, attention, physical health, energy, talents, possessions, attitudes, relationships, and money. Thank you for sharing your re-sources to support the ministries of our church.

SHARE A TASTE OF PRINCE OF PEACE AT THE 2ND ANNUAL PRINCE OF PEACE BBQ ON AUGUST 22. In your bulletin this week, you’ll find an invitation card. If there’s someone you’ve been thinking about inviting to church, use this card to invite them to a day of food, fun, and music. It’s also a great opportunity to invite back former members who may have lost touch with PoP. Simply fill in your name and phone number or email address as the contact, and give the card with all the details to your friends. Additional invitations are available at both entrances of the church.

WELCA WOMEN’S CIRCLES Leader Guides for the upcoming year of Bible Study are available for pick up in the church office. This year’s theme is The People of God: Unity in the Midst of Diversity.

WOMEN'S FRIDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY: On Friday,

September 10, we begin a new, six-week study titled "Mocha on

the Mount". This study, by Sandra Glahn, is written for women by a woman of wit and graciousness who weaves scripture and stories into the picture. Ms. Glahn asks: "Imagine yourself having coffee with Jesus. What would you like to ask Him? What might He ask you?". You'll love the way this study is presented (scriptural text is included in the spiral-bound booklet making it easy to take along wherever you go). If you like this coffee series (I love Mocha), we'll order up a cup of "Espresso with Esther" for the next study. Bring a cup of coffee if you like! I'll be having a Mocha BK Joe from Burger King! Please join us, we meet from 9:30am until 11:00am. Everyone is welcome in this friendly and fun-loving group. Study guides are N O W available in the church office for $10. Pick yours up early! For more

information, contact Bettye Petersen at 224-569-3744 or e-mail bettyepetersen@att.net.

THE SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER sermon series continues each Sunday in August; sermons will draw upon a current movie to illustrate the day's scripture text. All movies will be shown at Prince of Peace on Wednesdays at 7 pm (or rent the DVD and watch it at home). The one exception will be the week when a group will go see "Toy Story 3" in a local theater.

Sunday August 1 "Up in the Air"
Sunday August 8 "Toy Story 3"
Sunday August 15 "The Blind Side"
Sunday August 22 "Precious"
Sunday August 29 "The Book of Eli"

Paul Jarzembowski writes in his blog, “Spiritual Popcorn”: “Maybe that's why Toy Story 3 has caused so many adults to shed a few tears. Perhaps people see themselves as Andy, who in this film, has become a young adult heading off to college - "putting aside childish things." In the movie, even the toys, especially Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks), have a hard time moving on from Andy. The film takes them on an adventure through a day care center - trying desperately to get back home to those glory days of childhood. But life is moving on for everyone.”

Next Sunday, we’ll try to hear the message of this wildly popular film in light of Jesus’ words, “Fear not, little flock; it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32). If you would like to see Toy Story 3 with a group from Prince of Peace this week, contact Pr. Hellstedt at 847-885-7010 for the time and place.

REGISTRATION PACKETS FOR 2010/2011 SUNDAY SCHOOL, CONFIRMATION AND FAITH FEST HAVE BEEN MAILED. Extra packets are available at the Information Desks at the entrances. Please share one with a family you would like to invite to Prince of Peace.

CALLING ALL POP GOLFERS! We’re well into the summer golf season and it’s time for the 10th Annual Prince of Peace golf outing. The outing is set for Saturday August 28. Once again, we’ll tee it up with our friends from Christus Victor Lutheran Church at Bloomingdale Golf Club. Cost for the event is $75 and includes golf and dinner. This is a wonderful opportunity to invite a friend from outside the church to join us in fellowship. Sign-up sheets are available on the table in the Narthex and in the front hall.
