Serving Opportunities

The goal of this board is to provide and implement programs for the youth of the congregation.

  • Director – Two year term: 
    Chair Board of Youth monthly meetings.  Attend PPC monthly  meetings.  Prepare and track the budget and sign purchase requisitions for the Board of Youth.  Coordinate programs within the youth ministries.
  • Assistant Director – Two year term: 
    Attend PPC meetings when the director cannot attend.  Record and distribute minutes of board meetings.  Assist director with program development and the budget.  Ideally, will become the next director of the Board of Youth.
  • Confirmation Coordinator – Two year term:
    Work with the director of the Board of  Youth to plan and coordinate the 7th and 8th grade confirmation programs.  Secure volunteers to serve as lay guides and substitutes for 7th and 8th grade confirmation, and 5th and 6th grade Faith Fest.  Coordinate confirmation and registration.  Collect any fees.  Assist the director in planning 9th grade confirmation (Faith Explorers).  Keep records of confirmation attendance, service activities, and attendance at retreat  Distribute lessons and other materials to lay guides as needed.  Participate in lay guide training.  Oversee confirmation activities on Wednesday evenings.  Attend monthly Board of Youth meetings.
  • Coordinator of Retreats – Two year term:
    Attend monthly Board of Youth meetings.  Secure a specific volunteer retreat coordinator for each retreat.  Coordinate various youth retreats throughout the year.
  • Stepping Stones Coordinator – Two year term: 
    Notify youth and families as Stepping Stones are reached and involve them in the celebrations.  Publicize scheduled Stepping Stones events to the congregation.  Plan Stepping Stones hospitality events as needed.  Obtain supplies for projects.  Stepping Stones currently being celebrated are:  baptism, entry into Sunday School,  prayer partners, Bible presentations, first communion, family retreat, community building retreat, confirmation, and baccalaureate.
  • Special Event Coordinator – Two year term:
    Work with the director of youth to plan and coordinate craft projects, gather materials, and recruit volunteers to assist children in making crafts for special events:  Trunk or Treat, Christmas Eve morning, and Lent.  Attend monthly board of Youth meetings.
  • Sunday School Principal  ( 3 year olds to Senior High) – Two year term: 
    Recruit staff.  (teachers, principal, supply room person)  Conduct staff training sessions.  Distribute curriculum.  Complete Sunday School registration process.  Analyze year end teacher evaluation surveys.  Attend monthly Board of Youth meetings.
  • Vacation Bible School Coordinator – Two year term: 
    Work with board chair to plan and coordinate Vacation Bible School.  Recruit teachers, helpers, and leaders for age-level classes, music, crafts, snacks, and recreation.  Attend monthly board of Youth meetings.
  • Senior High Lutheran Youth Organizers  (for 9th - 12th grades) – Two year term
    Hold kickoff meetings in August to plan calendar of events for coming year.  Include as many parents and youth as possible to help take responsibility for events.  Attend/chaperone as many events as possible.  When not possible for you to attend, make sure qualified adult chaperones are available,
  • Junior High Leader – Two year term: 
    Hold a kick off meeting in September to plan events for the year.  Include as many parents as possible to take responsibility for individual events. Normally meets the third Sunday of the month. Attend/chaperone as many events as possible.  When you cannot attend, make sure there are qualified adults in your place.
  • Lay Guide: 
    Adult leader for Confirmation of Faithfest that meets with youth weekly.  Reinforce the learnings per guidelines.  Attend occasional special events.  Nurture the development of relationships in the group and nurture the faith of participants.
  • Sunday School Teacher: 
    Meet with a class of pupils weekly to teach them about God and the Bible.
  • VBS Volunteer :  
    Work in some aspect of the annual week long Vacation Bible School.  Includes such positions as leader, assistant leader, food, games, story telling, and crafts.
